中医将尿频列为“肾虚”的症状之一，尿频也是尿道综合征的主要症状之一。当人的体质下降时是容易出现尿频现象，也容易伴随出现性功能下降。尿道综合征的尿频表现在以下几个方面：
膀胱是由平滑肌组成的空腔容器，它的作用是储存尿液，它本身有很好的伸缩性。当尿液达到一定量，其产生的压力超过膀胱的耐受程度时，人就有了尿意，需要排尿。当身体素质、性功能下降时，体内的雄激素水平下降，膀胱平滑肌的肌纤维张力也出现了下降，使得膀胱的伸缩性降低。当尿液积到的量并不比过去多时它所产 生的压力已经和以前相同，这就有了排尿的需求，出现尿频。
1、膀胱或尿道受刺激：膀胱、后尿道炎症、膀胱结核或结石，其中膀胱结核时，尿频持续时间特别长;
2、膀胱容量减少：见于膀胱内占位性病变、结核性挛缩膀胱或妊娠子宫、子宫肌瘤、子宫脱垂压迫膀胱等;
3、下尿路有梗阻：见于前列腺增生症、尿道狭窄等。通常有排尿困难，表现为排尿开始迟缓，排尿费力，射程缩短、射力减弱、尿线中断或不成线呈滴沥状;
4、神经原性膀胱：由于神经系统疾病导致膀胱功能失常;
5、精神因素：精神紧张，焦虑或恐惧。
