女性尿道综合征是指有尿频，尿急、尿痛等症状，但膀胱和尿道检查无明显器质性病变的一组非特异性症候群，多见于已婚的中青年女性。常由于尿道外口解剖异常(如小阴唇融合、尿道处女膜融合，处女膜伞等)、尿道远端梗阻、泌尿系感染以及局部化学性，机械性刺激等因素所引起。患者尿道口组织的病理改变均为慢性炎症反应，多数患者尿培养可能阳性，46%为大肠埃希菌，18%为衣原体，厌氧菌培养可增加阳性发现，32%患者病因不确切。
急性期的妇女，应多饮水，并选用适当的抗菌药物。在症状控制以后，应注意纠正诱因，有宫颈炎和阴道炎的应积极处理。发现有尿道病变或解剖异常的应及时进行手术治疗。老年性阴道尿道炎的患者服用小剂量雌激素，或局部应用抗生素，氢化考的松，雌激素制剂常可以取得很好的疗效。
