尿道综合征或前列腺急性炎症者，应用抗生素控制感染后再行此手术。尿道扩张术前让病人排尿及清洗外生殖器。万一得了尿道综合征，除了要积极配合医生治疗外，还应做好以下几点：
1.适当休息，减少活动，暂停性生活至少一周，以减少尿道重新感染与刺激的机会;
2.多喝水，多排尿，可以清除膀胱与尿道中的刺激物质，从而减轻征状;
3.热水坐浴或用温水洗涤外阴部，以保持局部清洁;
4.排尿疼痛明显者，可用手指在外阴部两侧大阴唇皮肤周围作轻柔的按摩，有助于解除尿道口周围肌肉痉挛，减轻排尿疼痛;
5.以清淡、易消化且富含营养的食品为宜，还可吃些益气解毒利尿之品，如绿豆汤、冬瓜汤、梨等。忌酒戒烟，不食辛辣刺激之物，如辣椒、蒜、香料等。
