中医认为尿道综合征的外因以湿热为主，内因为肾虚，病久邪气未尽，正气已伤，为虚实夹杂，病位在膀胱，归类于中医的淋症范畴。一般辨证分型如下。
1、肝气郁结型
尿频、尿急、尿痛，少腹满痛，舌质带青，脉沉弦。治宜疏肝解郁，利气疏导。方药：柴胡、当归、白芍、沉香、陈皮、茯苓各10克，冬葵子、王不留行各15克，甘草6克。
辨证加减：
①失眠多梦者，加酸枣仁、柏子仁。
②头痛头晕者，加钩藤、菊花。
③面红耳赤、心烦易怒者，加丹皮、栀子、生地、黄连、龙胆草。
④溺时尿道灼痛者，加生地、木通、竹叶。
2、气阴两虚型
尿频、尿急、尿痛，小便不适，伴有自汗盗汗，气短声怯，倦怠无力，食欲不振，舌质光红，苔薄或剥，脉细数无力。治宜益气健脾，滋阴清热，分清泌浊。方药：生黄芪、车前草各30克，石莲子(去心)、冬葵子各15克，人参、茯苓、白术、麦冬、北沙参、黄芩、地骨皮各10克，甘草6克。
辨证加减：
①失眠多梦，腰膝酸软者，加黄柏、知母、山茱萸。
②头晕耳鸣较重者，加栀子、女贞子、菟丝子、山茱萸。
③尿频但尿少而灼痛者，加生地、木通、竹叶。
